* MICHAEL SCHUMACHER IN COMA AFTER SKIING ACCIDENT
Formula One legend MICHAEL SCHUMACHER is in critical condition after a ski accident left him in a coma on Sunday (29Dec13).
The retired German racing star fell and hit his head on a rock while skiing with his son at a luxury resort in Meribel, France in the French Alps and was later airlifted to The Grenoble University Hospital Center.
The 44 year old underwent an operation after arriving at the medical centre, and remains in a critical condition.
A statement from Schumacher’s agent, Sabine Kehm, reads, “Michael fell on his head during a private ski trip in the French Alps. He was hospitalised and is receiving medical care. We ask for your understanding that we cannot give a running commentary on his state of health. He was wearing a helmet and was not alone.”
Schumacher, who is a seven-time Formula One champion, is the most successful F1 driver of all time with a record 91 victories. (TD/PE/LR)**
